Children's Health & Safety

Does your child have a bicycle helmet? Does it fit properly?

Mark Reed has bicycle helmets available at the hospital. Children can be fitted right on site to ensure maximum safety and efficiency. This program is managed by the Mark Reed Hospital Foundation and only a $5 donation is requested in exchange for the helmet.

It takes less than 5 minutes to be fitted for a helmet. It’s worth the time to keep your child safe and avoid potential brain trauma from bicycle and skateboard accidents. Stop in today!

Make sure your child receives proper medical care in your absence!

Hospitals often cannot treat or care for children without consent from parents or legal guardians. This can cause problems if the child has a medical emergency when the parent or guardian cannot be reached by the hospital to obtain consent.

If you have a relative, family friend or babysitter caring for your child or children while you are away, download the free Consent Form for Emergency Care and leave it with the caregiver. This authorization will work at any hospital, including Mark Reed.

Well Child Check-ups and Immunizations

Children can pick up a lot of germs and illnesses from other children at school, daycare and common play areas. They then transmit these illnesses to family members at home. It is important to keep your children healthy and teach them good hygiene and wellness practices. HAND WASHING is the number one lesson- Before they eat, after recess or playing with other children, after using the restroom, and as many times a day as they can. Hand washing is instrumental in preventing the spread and acquisition of the flu viruses.

Our Healthcare Clinic provides Well Child Check-ups and can provide your children with the proper immunizations they need for attending school. If your child is uninsured, please contact CHOICE Regional Health Network or DSHS to secure insurance for them and bring them into Mark Reed Healthcare Clinic for their Well Child exam. For more information or assistance with contacting CHOICE/DSHS, please call the clinic at (360) 495-3500.
